Fitting Tip Friday: Price

February 2, 2018

When budgeting for a wedding dress the cost of alterations should be factored in. Sales consultants will often be able to give you a cost range based on each dress, but they will never be exact. As a bridal seamstress I do not have a price list that can be handed to you. Each dress requires a different amount of work, resulting in different costs.  The more work that needs to be done, the greater the cost; the reason for this is the amount of time that it takes to complete all the work. For example a lace hem costs more to shorten than a non-lace hem because it is a more time consuming project. I am able to give about a $100 range after the first fitting to let a bride know what the estimated cost will be.
